DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
My prayer for you is that you had a BLESSED EASTER and are experiencing a spiritual Easter week as we will be celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday. This is always a great time for me and all in the ministry. I wrote about my grandson who had a miraculous healing on Divine Mercy Sunday in the year 2000 (the year Blessed Faustina was canonized) and the year that Pope John Paul II officially declared during his homily that the Second Sunday of Easter will be called “Divine Mercy Sunday”. We have had so many other beautiful conversions over the years as we continue to promote the devotion each year at Santa Cruz Church, in the gift shop and here on the web site.
It very specifically says in the Diary that “souls who spread the honor of My mercy I shield through their entire life as a tender mother her infant, and at the hour of death I will not be a Judge for them but the Merciful Savior”. He also says that “Hardened sinners will repent on hearing their words, when they will speak about My unfathomable mercy, about the compassion I have for them in My Heart. To priests who will proclaim and extol My mercy, I will give wondrous power, and I will anoint their words and touch the hearts of those to whom they will speak.”
It is always good to reflect on the promises made to St. Faustina as recorded in her diary, that is the unique grace of complete remission of sins and punishment! The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment! The conditions to receive these graces are:
- Receive Holy Communion worthily on Divine Mercy Sunday, that is, one should be in the state of grace and, moreover; free from any attachment to sin.
- Fulfill the basic conditions of the devotion to the Divine Mercy:
- Have an attitude of great trust in the mercy of God
- Perform deeds of Mercy: there must also be acts of mercy
- Go to CONFESSION! Not necessarily on Divine Mercy Sunday, it can be several days before, it is most important to be in a state of grace, free not only from grave sin but also from any attachment to sin when receiving Holy Communion that day.
You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
I also wanted to share this month this picture of Amelie Nora Wedock. She is the little baby I wrote about 3 years ago as the mother approached me for advice because all people from medical to acquaintances had advised her to abort this beautiful little girl. She brought me this picture that I wanted to share to show that God wants us to promote LIFE and here is the proof. She also shared with me that as they struggle in this economy, she went to the store to get a few groceries. As she went to pay for them, the lady in front of her turned back and said “I would like to pay for your groceries, please”. Krista was shocked and as the lady paid for the groceries with her debit card she noticed the back that said “this is God’s love”. As she took her groceries to the car, she looked around and could not find “the lady” anywhere, she had disappeared. I believe this is a blessed family because of their “YES”.
We are very happy here in the ministry as we will be able to have free advertising for events on one of our radio stations here in Tucson this year. Hopefully that will make us a little more known to potential benefactors and to announce some upcoming fund raisers. We are planning a dinner dance as well as a few evenings for teen agers with our “T” who is our sound person here in the ministry and a DJ. This will be great to give the youth something to do this summer.
We are also praying for a positive answer to a grant request to enable us to get the bigger place to do more of these kinds of events as well as retreats and conferences. We are starting to prepare to take our youth to California again as we have no place to hold an event here in Tucson yet.
We have more answered prayers and more miracles each day as we all pray together for the intentions of each other and all the requests through the ministry.
May God Bless all of you. We will pray for each of you and ask that you keep our intentions in your prayers as well.
